The Argentinian painter Osvaldo Bacman understands colour as the expression of a bond, a relationship of concomitance. In his abstract geometrical compositions, he removes the manual gesture to emphasize perceptual quality optics,

he uses as constants, repeat operations, rotation, and distortion. Bacman’s optical illusions are creating shapes and colours of unstable appearance, which become background and vice versa or that seem to compose new figures or appear to move.

Influenced by Cubism and Constructivism, Bacman employes pulsating colours and tight geometric formulations to express his embrace of urban living. Exhibiting all over Europe and Argentina, Osvaldo Bacman is recognized as one of the most influential Latin American artists for his unique style and vision.

Osvaldo Bacman was born in La Plata,Argentina, where he attended The Academy of Fine Arts of the National University of La Plata. The visual artist, who exhibited in Vienna, Paris, Miami,

and NYC, is currently living in Cologne, Germany. His original artworks are presented in private and public collections in Argentina, Germany, the US, and the Art Collection of the Musée D’Art Contemporain Mézieres-en-Brenne in France.

Climate Change – Our Ressouces – Burning for Beef?

Osvaldo Bacman: “The Amazon rainforest is going up in flames. The forests are burning to clear them, making way for more and more pastureland. On the other hand, it is our high demand for beef that is responsible for the burning forests. My new series, RED (Fire), BLUE (Flood), YELLOW (Drought/ Desert), GREEN (Rainforest) refers to the subject of climate change and the effects.

Each painting accompanied by another is seen as part of or within a larger sequence, to generate feelings, climate, or an atmosphere of connections open to interpretation.”

Donegel’ Chong was born in Malaysia as a “third generation” Chinese descent; educated in Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

DONEGEĽ CHONG

While completing his studies in Catholic Junior College Singapore, he spontaneously took part in the 1993 “My Singapore, My Home” art competition organised by the Singapore Ministry of Culture and was awarded with the Merit Prize. This was his first public recognition for his artistic talents.

Increasing his career, he graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in International hospitality management (Les Roches International School of Hotel Management),

which brought him to Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Donegel’ Chong

After his last station in the USA, Donegel’ Chong took up fashion design, creating his fashion brands, Malefactor and Donegel’ Chong; all brought under his first boutique in Zurich, FADESTO – FAshion DEsigners STarting Out.

An unexpected chance led Donegel’ Chong back to the hospitality industry in Japan, Malaysia and China. Finaly an opportunity in retail brought him back to Switzerland again, where the multilevel artist is currently living and working.

Donegel’ Chong’s original artworks are presented in private and public collections in China, Germany, Norway, Switzerland.

Series FEEDING

Donegel’ Chong: “In my series FEEDING the fishes are swimming in water jumping up and down. Is it an explosion of energy or restless chaos? How are we feeding the fishes? Or are the fishes feeding us?

Who is the hunter and who becomes the hunted?

I like the theme of climate change as this is a very current and important topic, that will influence the sustainability of planet earth and everything on and within it.

What we have done cannot be undone, but the collective actions that we could make NOW, can still manoeuvre the future and the lives of generations to come.

From my point of view as a visual artist, my works are not only meant to be pretty in a room, but are there whenever possible to stimulate reflections, thoughts and dialogues.”

Karin Köpfli-Fehlmann is a Swiss visual artist, currently living and working in Bremgarten, AG, Switzerland.

Nach ihrem Kunststudium in Paris und zahlreichen Ausstellungen seit 1992 in Europa, Brasilien, Indien, Osaka und Miami lebt Pavlina heute in der Schweiz, am Genfersee.

Sie ist in der ehemaligen Tschechoslowakei geboren, ihre Mutter ist Deutsche und der Vater Slowake. In Deutschland aufgewachsen, hat sie ab dem Alter von 18 Jahren in Hawaii und anschliessend in Paris gelebt.

Diese kosmopolitische Künstlerin malt eine visionäre Welt und bringt eine universale Botschaft zum Ausdruck, in der ihr Anliegen unserer gesellschaftlichen Probleme sowie der Umweltschutz im Vordergrund stehen. Die innere Befindlichkeit und tiefe Infragestellung kommen in ihren grossformatigen Portraits und Seelenlandschaften immer wieder zum Vorschein. Während ihrer regelmässigen Teilnahme an den Klimastreiks in Bern und Lausanne machte Pavlina Bekanntschaft mit dem Nobelpreisträger und Professor Jacques Dubochet, der mit Greta Thunberg in Lausanne viel Medienunterstützung erhielt. Pavlina’s Bilder reflektieren ihr persönliches Engagement, und wurden bereits in mehr als hundert Ausstellungen in Galerien, Kulturzentren, Stiftungen, Kunstmessen und Museen gezeigt.

Sie ist Mitglied mehrerer Organisationen wie Greenpeace, Helvetas, Des calories pour la vie, Amnesty International, und erhielt von Terre des Hommes ein Diplom für ihr achtzehnjähriges Engagement.

Pavlina ist Autorin zweier Kunstbücher – « Zwanzig Jahre blaue Leidenschaft » und « Espaces et Transparences » – erschienen im Verlag du Tricorne in Genf, sowie Preisträgerin mehrerer renommierter Auszeichnungen, darunter den Preis der « Société nationale des Beaux-Arts de France ».

Artist statement

The objective of my art is, through combining the opportunities of digital technology with traditional painting and the art of poetry, to evoke emotions, to stimulate reflection and daydreams. I prefer painting flowers, following a quote of Buddha: “If you could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change”.

My art is in general simple, plain and focused on the essentials, often with Japanese or Asian touch. Each painting gets a small poem as title, which is built similarly to a Japanese haiku, intended to stimulate thinking and reflection.

The traumatic objectivity

The Swiss-Australian artist Joey Schmidt-Muller, born in Switzerland, now lives in Germany, where he works as a freelance painter. The focus of his work is on people with their thoughts, fears and feelings.

Cross-border commuters

In his timeless works, Joey Schmidt-Muller depicts his worldview. He does not want to imitate, copy or trivialize. He only simplified his splinters of thought so much to put them together to create a composition of ambiguous statements and messages. Joey Schmidt-Muller describes his style with a traumatic objectivity as a monument. He wants to stimulate, create intimacy and at the same time consciously be a distant border crosser.

I draw like a painter and paint like a draftsman!

Joey Schmidt-Muller’s works deal with immediacy, truth, life and death. His pictures juggle between the intensity of their expression and their aesthetic component. They testify to sensitivity and, at the same time, to a conscious breach of the intimacy limits through drastic and provocative representations. The artist mainly works with oil pastels on paper. By dividing light and dark, light and shadow, he gives the surface a shape and illustrates the temporality with indicated movement.

Alexej Vojtášek was born 13 December 1952, Roudnice nad Labem

1973 – 1980 Studied in the Department of Graphic Art and Book Illustration under Prof.
Albín Brunovský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava.

1985 – 1990 Taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, and 1994 – 1995 at the Teachers’ in the Department of Promotion and Advertising of Comenius University.

He has participated in many solo and joint exhibitions and illustrated more than one hundred books. His works can be found in private collections and galleries in Slovakia and abroad. He has taken part in many international symposia in Komárno, Graz and Moravany nad Váhom, Mojmírovce, Olšany. In 1985 he received the 3rd prize at the International Triennial of Drawing in Nuremberg, as well as other awards. The artist lives in Bratislava. Apart from small-size painting, he is also concerned with drawing, graphic art, spatial objects and application of monumental painting to architecture.

2016 Awarded as a favorite and most popular artist of the year by AP Gallery, Vilnius Lithuania. During the year artist participated in several showcasing of artworks in Vilnius and Kaunas.

Group exhibition at M.A.D Gallery in Milan, Italy. Awarded with professional artist status by Lithuanian government.

2015 Organized international fine art Symposium “Only painting” in Lithuania (project manager).

Solo photography exhibition at Lithuania’s parliament palace.

Directing theater performance „Lion of Palanga“ for a theater group and gymnasium students from Obeliai town.

Published in the book (In)Dependant Contemporary art histories 1987-2014″ Vol II.

2014 Rimvydas was granted with funding to build and design a town square in Obeliai, Lithuania. Organized international fine art Symposium “Only painting” in Lithuania

(project manager and participant). During fallowing year, paintings created during the symposium have been exhibited several times in art galleries and public building in Lithuania and Latvia.

RIMVYDAS PUPELIS – ART MUTA (Lituanien)

Born 1965 in Obeliai, Lituanie / Lithuania, he graduated 1983 from Obeliai secondary school and then 1984 graduated from Siauliai Thirteenth professional technical school (miller specialty). 2006 he received the Bachelor of Arts and a professional teacher’s qualification at Siauliai University of Arts and Technology.

Rimvydas Pupelis was one of couple artists to star, promote and influence FLUXUS-movement in Lithuania. In cooperation with world famous artists, Jonas Mekas (USA) and Jurgis Maciunas (USA) Rimvydas organized and coordinated several exhibitions and art projects in Lithuania.

His artistic achievements are included in several mandatory schooling art books. Artist’s works and interviews are many times published in numerous newspapers and magazines, TV-news and telecast.
